We dedicated our shoeboxes for the Lord to His glory as youth and Pastor Wilson and Youth Director Melanie Person led the congregation in prayer. The Burt Presbyterian Church set a new record for Operation Christmas Child boxes with 103 of the "shoeboxes for Jesus." Woden Presbyterian Church added 20 boxes and Lone Rock church had 31 for a total of 154 from the three area Presbyterian churches. The Middle School Youth Fellowship thanks all who participated in Operation Christmas Child.
Then, on December 6, Youth Minister Melanie Person, assistant Amy Mawdsley, and Pastor Glenn Wilson took a group of 12 youth to work on the line at the Operation Christmas Child in Burnsville, Minnesota, near Minneapolis. It was a wonderful learning experience as students and adults worked the line, inspecting boxes and packing them into large packing boxes for shipment overseas. The Minnesota packing center alone will send out 690,000 shoeboxes for children this year.
It is a rewarding experience for people of all ages. With the help of caring churches like ours, millions of hurting children in faraway lands can experience hope and joy through gift-filled shoe boxes. Best of all, these simple expressions of love open doors to introduce boys and girls to God's greatest gift--Jesus Christ--through Gospel booklets and follow-up discipleship and evangelism programs. After a record last year of 85 boxes, we would set a goal of at least 100 gift boxes come from the Burt area this year.
This year, the Burt Youth Fellowship provided Burt and the entire area with the unique opportunity to share Christ with a needy child using a simple shoe box. Each shoe box will reach a child in a troubled country like
This Christmas season, a needy child overseas will receive your shoe box, along with Christian literature in his or her own language. What an opportunity to reach these children with a clear presentation of the Gospel!
